EX-WIGAN Warriors second-row Danny Tickle has received hospital treatment after an early hours altercation outside a borough nightclub.
A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident at Queen’s nightclub in Ashton in the early hours of Sunday morning, Greater Manchester Police said.
He has been bailed until November 29.
Golborne born Tickle, who plays for Widnes Vikings, is understood to have been taken to Wigan Infirmary and is currently in a stable condition.
A Widnes Viking statement released on Monday morning said: “The club can confirm that Danny Tickle was involved in an incident on Saturday evening that required hospital treatment.
“Danny is in a stable condition and the club have been advised that he will make a complete recovery.
“The club will be making no further comments on this matter at this stage.”
A GMP statement said: “At 4.05am on Sunday November 1, police received a report of a man being assaulted outside Queen’s nightclub, Wigan Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield. A 32-year-old was taken to hospital suffering from head injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.”
