THREE Wigan sisters joined forces to raise money for Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

Katie Stevenson, Kelly Stokes and Claire Ward had vowed to help the charity that looked after their mother, who lost her battle with cancer at the age of 56 in 2012, and honoured their promise with a fun day this week.

The event was held at St Aidan’s club, Winstanley, and included a range of stalls and activities including a bouncy castle, balloon modelling and face painting.

Peppa Pig, Fireman Sam and a Disney Princess were among the celebrity guests. Friends and family helped out and many people helped collect raffle and tombola prizes.

A hair and fashion evening has also been held to boost funds further and Claire is to take on a sponsored sky dive in June.

She said: “The work the hospice does is amazing: I have seen it from first-hand experience and I know my family and I will never be able to thank them enough.”
