A PRIMARY school celebrated 40 years at its current site with a lavish week of activities.
Pupils at St Peter’s CE Primary School, in Hindley, marked the ruby anniversary by releasing balloons in the playground.
The youngsters also enjoyed a street party which saw children dress up in ‘70s-themed hats they had made and the staff don period costumes, and learned songs from the time the school first opened at a visit from music workshop Pop Project.
St Peter’s also ensured the birthday celebrations looked to the future as well as the past with the official opening of an extension containing new classrooms and an immersion room which allows pictures to be displayed on three green walls.
The school moved to its current site on Kildare Street in 1973.
