Funeral of Louis Simpson takes place

The funeral takes places today of a teenager who died in a barn blaze.

Investigations are continuing into what caused the tragedy in which 14-year-old Louis Simpson lost his life the weekend before last in the farm building at Fairhurst Hall, Parbold.

A floral shrine nearby has continued to grow and one new addition is a Liverpool FC T-shirt celebrating the club’s famous 2005 Champions League win signed by the Carragher family. They are friends of the Simpsons and dad Jamie played for the Reds in that match.

Louis’s school, Merchant Taylors’ in Liverpool, has opened a book of condolence. Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. Louis and three friends were playing near to the barn and were present when the fire started.
