Girl, 6, in attempted abduction - police probe

Police are investigating claims a man attempted to abduct a six-year-old girl in Wigan.

Officers were called to Scafell Grove in Platt Bridge on Thursday at around 6.40pm.

It is believed the youngster was playing with friends when she walked to a nearby pathway and a man approached her.

He then grabbed hold of her but the girl managed to run away.

He is described as white and wearing a grey hat, blue top, grey trousers with a blue stripe and was riding a bike.

He is believed to have been with a second man who is described as black.
