A STUDENT is dreaming of fame and glamour after making it through to the latter stages of Miss Teen GB in her first modelling contest.
Bethany Cottriall, 17, impressed the judging panel enough to qualify for the semi-finals of the prestigious competition, and is now anxiously waiting to hear if she has a place in the grand final.
Bethany, from Astley, was picked out from thousands of applicants with her portfolio of modelling photographs and her answers to a lengthy questionnaire, and should know within the next couple of weeks if she is among the 60 girls heading to the Blackpool final in August.
Her achievements in making it through to the semi-final is even more impressive as she has never previously entered a modelling competition, and is currently combining her interest in the world of showbiz with studying animal care at Walkden College.
Proud mum Alison, 38, said: “I just think it’s brilliant, she’s a really good girl and has been really supportive of me and her brothers and sisters too.
“She’s never done anything like this before, but quite a few people said to her that she should try modelling or be on TV. We went down to London to get some photos done at a studio on Regent Street and it’s all gone from there.
“Hopefully we will know in the next couple of weeks if she’s going to Blackpool. So far they’ve just selected people on the photographs and answers to questions but for the final they get to parade at photoshoots and speak to the judges, it’s like they do for Miss World.”
Bethany has already attracted the attention of talent scouts through taking part in Miss Teen GB, with several agencies ringing up with job opportunities, including a company which works with Granada.
