The PT Studio on Miry Lane Industrial Estate, beat Ladybird Fitness Centre (2nd place) and Elite Fitness (3rd place) to be crowned undisputed king-of-the-gyms.

Ste Barlow, 32, is the owner and is proud of the outfit’s humble beginnings in Pemberton a decade ago.

He said: “I began in a tiny studio and just built the gym up bit by bit. We’ve moved twice since. We’re growing every year.”

The game-changing gym has achieved incredible results for its members since it opened.

With training sessions such as Trauma Tuesday, Wicked Wednesday and Sadistic Saturday, these are premises serious about getting results.

In fact member Katrina Elizabeth credits the PT Studio with changing her life.

She said: “I was massively overweight, had no self confidence and was ridiculously unfit. Ste and the team at PT Studio have completely changed my outlook on exercise, nutrition and most importantly, myself.”

Katrina’s success story is shared by many gym members who have achieved incredible body transformations at TP Studio.

Ste said: “It’s just old-school hard work. We help people train hard and keep them motivated.

“We have a strong, close-knit community here and that’s something that’s missing from the big gyms. It’s like an extended family.

“We offer a more personal experience to training. I had a woman in the other day who was in tears. We’d helped her lose 10st. She said we had changed her life.”

Ste has even bigger plans for TP Studio.

“After receiving news that his gym has been crowned Wigan Gym of the Year, he told the Post that he plans on expanding again.

He said: “I want to open more gyms. I’m thinking of growing the business and opening new studios in Leigh and maybe Warrington.”
