Pride in Our Health, a free event being organised by LGBT Foundation’s Pride In Practice project on March 25, will be an opportunity for the community to come together and discuss the importance of LGBT friendly primary care services across Greater Manchester.

The event will look at how services currently meet LGBT patients' needs and how providers can look to improve them.

Key questions the event will look to discuss include:

• How does your GP treat its LGBT patients?

• Why is it important that my dentist knows my sexual orientation/trans status?

• What can optometrists tell us about our wider health?

• How can we get the most from pharmacy services?

Foundation practice manager Laurence Webb said: “Many of us can put off those important health checks. However visiting the GP, the dentist, the pharmacy, or the optometrist is a crucial part of our healthcare. This community event is a chance for LGBT people across Greater Manchester to share their views and experiences and help us in our work to improve services in primary care across Greater Manchester.”

The event coincides with a patient care survey Pride In Practice is running asking for the experiences of LGBT people when accessing healthcare services to build a picture of current healthcare provision provided by primary care services for LGBT people.
