PROTESTERS against changes to the NHS carried a coffin through Wigan town centre.

The Wigan branch of Keep Our NHS Public meets for the first time since they formed at Whelley Labour Club earlier this month, to protest against the coalition Government’s changes to the NHS.

The group paraded the coffin through the town centre on Saturday to signify what they claim to be the death of the NHS.

Stephen Hall of Wigan’s Keep Our NHS Public, said: “The aim of the protest was to alert the public to the fact that the end is nigh for the NHS if the Government’s reforms are allowed to become law – something which they might do within a matter of weeks.”
