Hospice garden musicals

A CHARITY dedicated to creating gardens at children’s hospices is asking people from Wigan to host a musical Greenfingers Week anytime during 2011.

Greenfingers, which was set up by members of the gardening industry, is calling for companies, teams and individuals to raise funds for the charity by hosting a week of musical events. Whoever raises the most from their event will win a visit from celebrity gardener Christine Walkden.

Project spokeswoman Deborah Skillicorn said: “There are lots of things that can be organised during the week.

“If people want to host a Fame Week they could organise an ’80s day and a dance competition, for Grease people could host a T-Bird car wash and for the Wizard of Oz a follow the yellow brick road treasure hunt.

“The fund-raising activities don’t have to be on a big scale – we just want people to get together and have fun while raising funds.”
