HOSPITAL bosses have issued a warning about Wigan Infirmary’s “very busy” accident and emergency services.
Residents have been advised to only use the department in the event of a serious accident or “life threatening” emergency.
A statement from Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh (WWL) Foundation Trust said: “We want to ensure all patients receive the right care, at the right time and in the right location. And A&E is not the right choice for minor conditions.
“If you do attend with a minor injury or ailment you may have to wait a significant period of time.
“We are urging the public only to visit A&E if they have been involved in an accident or if it is a life threatening emergency.”
