A MANHUNT has been launched for a sniper who shot a young Wigan man six times with an air rifle.
The shocking incident came to light when the 20-year-old man called the ambulance service suffering from neck, back and arm injuries shortly before 6.30pm on Sunday evening.
Paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service rushed to an address on Atherton Road, in Hindley, before taking the victim to Wigan Infirmary.
Under questioning by the emergency services, the man said the shooting had taken place at around noon on Sunday, but he had waited six hours before calling for help.
Although the ambulance service say Greater Manchester Police had been informed, the police said they had no record of the incident and no report of an air rifle shooting had been received.
