A FRAIL couple in their 90s and their 63-year-old son were threatened with a crowbar and screwdriver during a terror raid.
The attack happened at an address in Coppull Moor Road, Coppull, and police today appealed for witnesses and residents in the neighbouring Standish and Wrightington areas to come forward if they have information.
It was at about 8.20pm on Tuesday that two men broke in to the house.
One of the intruders threatened the elderly owners and their son with a crowbar and screwdriver and the other searched the house. The pair eventually fled with a quantity of cash and their older victims’ pension books.
The men then ran away along Coppull Moor Lane towards the railway bridge.
Thankfully the victims were not hurt but were said by police to have been left “extremely shaken” by their ordeal.
The first intruder is described as about 6ft tall, of slim build, dressed in all dark clothing.
His accomplice was about 5ft 9ins tall, of stocky build, wearing a black cap and dark/black clothing.
Det Sgt Ian Derbyshire, of Lancashire Police’s South CID, said: “This was an extremely nasty crime which has left the vulnerable victims very shaken up.
“I would appeal for anyone with information to get in touch with us.”
