A TEENAGER is hoping to become the next Elle Macpherson as she enters a teen modelling competition.
Katie Gaskell, 15, of Lowton, is a semi-finalist in the Miss Teen Queen 2011 contest.
She is among 50 young women aiming to win the title - and you can help by voting for her before August 31.
Proud mum Julie, 49, said: “She has always had an interest in acting and modelling so she was surfing the net and came across the competition.
“I was a bit wary of her becoming involved at first, but she is now 15 and we need to let her make up her own mind. I was in two minds whether it was a good thing for her to do, But I looked at the website and everything seemed to be above board.
“That is the type of thing she wants to go into so it seemed like a good start along the road to a potential modelling career.
“We were really surprised when the organisers asked her to send in a photo. She then passed the initial stage and she went to London for a professional photo shoot, where she was assessed.
“From there 50 girls are selected each month to go on a website for the public to vote.
“The top two girls go through to the final in August 2011. I am excited for her and Katie is really pleased too that she has got this far.
“But she is realistic that she might not get through, but still very hopeful.”
Katie, who is a pupil at St Aelred’s RC High School in Lowton, is a keen fan of amateur dramatics.
She is also a leader of St Catherine’s Brownies, in Lowton.
