A MAN who knifed a Wigan 24-year-old to death has been jailed for life.

Jonathan Marron must serve at least 19 years before he is eligible for parole after changing his plea to guilty for the murder of Ian Sudworth.

The 21-year-old from Stranraer Road, Marsh Green, had been due to stand trial today until the 11th-hour announcement.

Mr Sudworth, from Beech Hill, was found unconscious at the junction of Scot Lane and Marsh Green in the early hours of Saturday, November 19, after he went out to a garage to buy cigarettes.

He was taken to Wigan Royal Infirmary, where he died a short time later. A post-mortem examination later showed that he died from multiple stab wounds.
