It is being held on Sunday May 28at the DW Stadium as they expected the numbers to be greater than the hugely successful inaugural even held at Holland Hall last year, but are now finding that there are a lot of spare spaces to fill.

The events have been organised because a number of their friends in their 20s and 30s have breast cancer.

Laura, from Skelmersdale, was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2014 and has been fighting it ever since.

One of the organisers Jennifer Kelly said: “Last year’s event was a massive success with over 250 attendees, performances from the UK pleasure boys, a drag artist, DJ, compare, with raffles of some amazing prizes, including a weekend in London, mobile phone, plenty of pamper vouchers etc which are all so generous donated. The proceeds raised last year we just short of £6,000.

“As last year was so successful we opened a reservation list for this year’s event so we could accommodate everyone who wanted to attend by booking a big enough venue.

“As a result of the registered interest we have booked a larger capacity room at the DW stadium in Wigan.

“However, now we are trying to confirm numbers there are a high volume of ladies that are now unable to attend, resulting in us having tickets still available.

“This is heartbreaking to us as we would love to be able to raise as much money as possible for the charities concerned.”

Jennifer also spoke about Laura: “Lu is an absolute gem who has been dealt a rough deal over the last couple of years.

“She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, and underwent chemo and radiotherapy and was then given the all clear.

“However the horrid disease returned in her back/hip bones with the devastating news that it is currently untreatable.

“She has taken the very brave route of trying to treat this herself by way of juices, going vegan and being extremely healthy, something which is proving to be working at the moment. She is a true inspiration.”
