A LARGE cannabis farm was discovered in two Wigan flats by Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

Officers found the extensive operation stretching across four rooms of the properties in Hindley at around 9.20am on Thursday.

The flats on Carr Street had been rigged up into a sophisticated operation involving bypassing the flats’ electricity supply, providing heat lamps for the plants and setting up an irrigation and watering supply. Electricians were called to the scene to make the mains supply safe.

No-one was in the properties at the time and GMP are yet to make any arrests. Enquiries into the origins of the farm are ongoing.

Anyone with information should ring police on 101 or call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
