The former Phoenix Nights star and Peter Kay’s best mate posted a video on his Instagram on Wednesday revealing that he had begun the first of a number of sessions with award-winning tattoo artist Adam White of Alchemy Tattoo Studio on Wallgate.

The studio has been making quite a name for itself recently, with Wigan Warriors stars Lewis Tierney and Sam Tomkins also having gone under the needle there in recent weeks.

Jackass star Steve-O is another of the studio’s famous clientele, and word of the studio’s work appears to be spreading fast.

“Paddy approached us through my company, Tib Ink Promotions, after hearing about Adam’s work,” said shop manager James Davies.

“We obviously can’t reveal details about the tattoo he is having done, but Paddy will be returning a few more times over the next few months.”

Adam has picked up a number of awards over the past year, including the prize for best black and grey tattoo at the Manchester International Tattoo Show last October.

“Adam has been receiving a lot of attention of late. We’re already pretty much booked up until August,” continued Mr Davies.

“He has attended two conventions so far and won awards at them both, so that speaks for itself really.”

Alchemy currently have a number of ambitious plans up their sleeve, with plans afoot to release a clothing line before the end of the year, as well as a second-storey extension of their town centre
studio.

In 2008, Bolton-born McGuinness joked that nothing from Wigan would ever pass his lips after attending the town’s World Pie Eating Championships as part of the television programme, Rory and
Paddy’s Great British Adventure.

But his aversion to all things Wigan appears to have changed now with the video posted on the comedian’s Instagram account accompanied by a post bemoaning the tattoo studio’s lack of local delicacies:

“Little vid from today’s session with @awhite.tattoo at Alchemy in Wigan. Lots of coffee on offer but not a single pie!”

“Where are all the bloody pies? #Tattoo #WiganPies.”

Other celebrities have come to Wigan to get inked at other studios, including multi-Olympic gold medallist and Tour de France winner Sir Bradley Wiggins.
