It's harder to find what I want to buy these days

I am becoming tired of being treated as a nobody. I have no computer because I can't afford one but that means I am excluded from so many things.

Competition entries and complaints mechanisms for example - because internet contact numbers are given but no address or phone number.

While shopping I am so often told: "We don't stock that, because nobody wants it today."

Well I do and so do many of my friends.

Another one is: "We don't stock notepaper because nobody writes letters these days" and yet these same stores sell envelopes! Ridiculous.

How I yearn for the good old days when I could visit five to 10 specialist shops to buy everything I needed, in half an hour. Now I trek for hours through so called 'superstores' and cannot find all I want.

Don't be fooled by online bargains

As a computer illiterate person aged 70 plus I admire the dexterity of all the people who have mastered this "art"

But I am surprised at the way these same clever people freely give away their personal details and cash over the Internet.

Some of the horror stories beggar belief. Obviously there are bargains to be had but at what risk?

Everyone has a point of view and thankfully we still live in a country where, to a point, we can voice them.

But I will stick to pen and paper.

Quick-fix pills are not the answer

I am so fed up of seeing adverts for over-the-counter weight loss pills that I know from experience have all sorts of "embarrassing" consequences, shall we say.

A new one being advertised on TV claims to help you lose an extra pound for every two as it prevents the absorption of fat.

In other words it goes straight through you... literally. We all want to be slimmer and healthier but I don't think that this is the way.

Until recently I was a real negative thinker. Then I met a hypnotherapist at a local company and cannot believe the results of my session.

I am almost a stone lighter and my outlook on life has changed so much.

I urge anyone considering putting such pills in their body to try the therapy and positive thinking route first.

It is more healthy and sustainable.

Food signs are misleading

Every supermarket has Jersey Royal Potatoes. My local store had hundreds on display last week. This must mean 1000s of tons over the UK.

Now look at Jersey - 45 square miles or 29,000 acres.

Deduct from its towns and villages, the acres of glasshouses for tomatoes and flowers. How much is left for potatoes?

I was told by Trading Standards last year that as long as the seed potatoes are grown on Jersey they can be grown anywhere in France or the UK and still be called Jersey Royals.

Where are the 'honest brokers'? No more in greengrocery... and definitely not in Parliament.

Time for change

New rules for expenses are sought.

Cry MPs who are feeling quite fraught.

They now clamour for change,

But it seems a bit strange,

They said nothing before they were caught!
