Let's hear more about Muslim women's fight
Recent newspaper headlines reported the sacrifice and death, in Afghanistan, of RAF man Garry Thompson; father of four talented daughters.
He went there to give Muslim women the same opportunities as his own daughters. At the same time we see the videos of 'alleged' Islamic terrorists in the current UK court case. They say they must kill thousands, of ordinary people, to avenge the deaths of Muslims.
The Muslim terrorists, who live in Britain, ignore the fact that the Islamic extremists they follow support extremist imams and terrorist leaders who encourage the unjustified killing, torture and persecution of thousands of Islamic women.
Large numbers of UK Muslims protested about Rushdie's Satanic Verses and the Danish cartoonist's irreverence of their prophet.
But where are the great protests, especially by women, about the injustices suffered by their brothers and, much more so, by their sisters who live in several nations ruled by Islamic extremists?
In the UK there are many educated and articulate Islamic women and men, with the ability and means to endeavour to reduce the suffering of fellow Muslims from tyranny and oppression. No doubt this is happening. But, if this is so, please let the rest of us know.

Have a shot at sporting week
National Shooting Week, which will run from May 3-11, looks set to be bigger than ever. More than 200 public open days are taking place across the nation in this Olympic year.
Shooting is one of the most inclusive Olympic and Paralympic sports, where gender, age and disability are no barriers to success.
National Shooting Week is a Government-backed initiative, organised by the British Shooting Sports Council, the umbrella body for shooting sports.
The week is aimed at people who would like to experience target shooting, one of the UK's most popular sports.
They will receive a warm welcome from shooting grounds and clubs. Beginners can find out where their nearest shooting event is at www.nationalshootingweek.co.uk, so why not give it a shot?

Concern AT water fuel experiment
People are right to be concerned about the new fuel for the European Pressurised water Reactor (EPR) being made in France.
To withstand the greater corrosion and stress caused by leaving the fuel in the reactor longer, the French are developing a new type of fuel cladding called M5.
This so-called 'high burnup' fuel cladding is experimental, and its composition is unlikely to be shared with rivals.

Wanting to recycle
I have recently moved from Prestwich to Wigan. I was surprised to discover that you don't have the blue recycling bins as we did in Prestwich for plastic and glass.
We are a family of five adults. Our weekly bin is not sufficient for us and we could reduce the amount of waste if we had one.
Christine Stokinger, via email
Editor's note: A trial is currently underway giving 13,000 homes
access to a bin for recycling glass and plastic which, if successful, will be rolled out across the
borough.
