Thuggish response to BNP Euro election win

I read the reports about protests over the election of two BNP men to seats in European Parliament.

I am wondering why there was no such protest when people paraded through London a short time ago

carrying banners threatening British subjects with death.

As for such slurs as "fascists" and "Nazis", one of the policies of Nazi Germany during the 1930s and 1940s was the extermination of Jews.

I have not heard of the BNP threatening anyone with death, nor have I seen them attempting to damage the cars belonging to other parties.

It makes me wonder who are the "thugs".

Wake-up call for political parties

Gordon Brown states they must in

future listen to the people. I suggest politicians of all parties do the same.

The European Elections should be the wake-up call as UKIP, the BNP and the smaller fringe parties who want to leave the EU did very well.

People are more aware that the European Union is a disaster for our country, with 64% wanting out, sooner rather than later; that saving 40m a day in doing so would help to pay off the vast amount of money Gordon Brown has borrowed.

Many think we are too small a country to survive without the EU yet Europe will still want to trade with us as we will with them. But it would be trade only - no directives to kill off our

industry, farming and fishing. More importantly we would be free to trade with the rest of the world as we have always done without having to pay a tariff to Brussels, on imports from countries outside the EU.

If the three main parties, had listened, and discussed with the people the

issues of immigration, and the subject of the European Union, the fringe parties may not have done as well.

Griffin could fix labour mistakes

I am very pleased to see the BNP's Nick Griffin democratically elected to the European Parliament.

The country is on its knees economically due to poor management by the Labour party. Then we discover that all the major parties have MPs with their noses in the trough.

Another reason this country is in trouble is because of its open-door policy. We have too many immigrants taking money out of a system they have not paid into.

Let's hope Mr Griffin can instigate some action so that I, with my

spiralling tax bill, can have a break.

Book launch marks diabetes week

Diabetes Week, from June 14, is celebrating the charity Diabetes UK's 75th anniversary.

Many celebrities have voiced their support of the charity's work, including Coronation Street's Kym Marsh, whose aunt and uncle have diabetes, as well as The One Show's Dominic Littlewood, who himself has type 1.

However 2009 also marks the launch of a book that aims to help the estimated 20,000 children and teenagers in the UK who have been diagnosed with diabetes.

In No Added Sugar, 14-year-old author Fibi Ward examines the psychological and emotional aspects of having to cope with diabetes at such a young age.

One of the things Fibi writes about is injecting yourself with insulin on a regular basis. It becomes like brushing your teeth, she says.

It may be that you or your child could benefit from reading it. For details, visit www.hammersmithpress.co.uk
