Too many are ignoring the rules of the road
I have been driving for 25 years and shocked at the lack of regard a high number of people seem to have for the general rules of the road and speed limits.
I am continually amazed at the lack of respect some people have for the speed limit. Don't they understand when it says 50mph it means that 50mph is the maximum one should be driving.
I wish I could blame this on the youth but have found it's mainly men and women over the age of 30 who are struggling with the law.
Tailgating seems to be another favourite for some drivers.
I drive to Manchester every day for work at 6am and find this arrogance is worst at this hour of the morning. The roads seem to be a bit more civilised when they are busy in the evening.
Am I the only one finding this a daily ritual on our roads?

Exercise is not the answer for M.E.
A recently broadcast radio programme, about a man said to have M.E. (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), who has recovered by taking exercise, in this case long walks, is typical of some attitudes. It needs serious reappraisal because they may be giving a completely wrong impression and causing treatment to be recommended which is actually harmful.
It is most likely that the subjects of these stories did not have M.E. at all but some other illness involving chronic fatigue or depression and that they had already recovered sufficiently to be able to take exercise.
No one yet fully understands the onset, course and prognosis of M.E., which is why research is so vital but it seems most likely that M.E. follows a viral infection, including Glandular Fever or an adverse reaction to vaccination.
Crucially, if people follow false logic that the same treatment will help people who really do have M.E., this is what M.E. sufferers will continue to be offered, when all the available evidence shows that it makes a majority worse, some irrecoverably so.
What is certain is that we need appropriate funding for research.

Experience deters girls from checks
The good work being done by Jo's Trust encouraging women to go for cervical smear tests will not be helped by the experience of three ladies I know.
Two of them took weeks building themselves up to go, then on attending their appointment were told it could not be done as the timing was not right. So they then had to go through it all again. Nothing of this was said when the appointment was made.
The other lady underwent the ordeal of having the test done only to be left there while the person carrying it out ran off to get a doctor to come and check she had done it correctly.
Is it any wonder a lot of women are reluctant to go back?

No surprise over bnp poll success
Shock result! Outrage! blazed newspaper headlines as the BNP gained two MEP seats in the recent election.
Shock? Surprise? I, for one, am not surprised. How many times over the last year have we read of hundreds of thousands of foreigners flooding our island, both legally and illegally?
Yes, newspapers want eye-catching headlines to sell their papers. I did not vote BNP but many people are panicked by these headlines. I blame the newspapers for the BNP's success.
