£10,000 to go for Naomi's fund
A two-year-old girl with cystic fibrosis is just over halfway to raising enough money to help improve her life.
Naomi Farrington, of Ince, was diagnosed with the disease just over a year ago and undergoes two hours of intensive manual physiotherapy each day, takes 14 tablets and 25mls of medicine. She also uses a nebuliser and two inhalers.
Naomi's mum and dad, Sarah Prowse and Christopher Farrington, are hoping to raise 20,000 for a special compression vest from America, which would remove the need for manual physiotherapy and cut down the
number of hospital visits.
Thanks to all the fund-raising efforts by Evening Post readers, Naomi's Fight campaign has raised just over 10,000.
The fund received a big boost last week, with 1,174 raised by Naomi's granddad, Marc Farrimond, who lives in Scotland.
Marc organised tarot evenings, raffles and sold hugs for 1.
Naomi's aunt, Tracy Morris, who is leading the fund-raising, said: "We have done marvellous. I can't believe we managed it."
Sam's Place, Ince, donated 100 of their tips to the cause and Tracy's friend Anne Ashley, from Manchester, donated 100.
Higher Ince Labour Club held another charity night over the weekend and
club secretary Marion Baldwin raised a further 205.
Their previous charity night raised 850.
Louisa Singleton, 28, of Marsh Green, cut her long auburn hair to help Naomi's Fight.
Louisa hoped to raise 400 but, due to redundancies at her work, she was only able to collect around 210.
Tracy added: "She did so well. It was a bit of a disappointment for her, but never mind. It can't be helped."
Naomi's parents did another pub crawl and raised around 500. Sarah, 21, said: "I am very happy with it all and I just want to say thanks to everyone.
"And I want to thank Rachel Mann, Thomas Mann, Chris Hodgsen, Andrew Gaskell, Kirsty Green, Billie, Laura Mann and Tom Farrington, who did the pub crawl."
The George Formby Appreciation Society will perform in Market Square, Wigan town centre, on June 21, with any money collected going toward's Naomi's Fight.
