Bruce plays down Heskey talk

Steve Bruce has played down speculation linking Emile Heskey with a move to Tottenham, saying there hadn't been any contact from the White Hart Lane outfit.

He said: "I think something was written in a Sunday newspaper about Emile and Spurs, but I certainly haven't had any conversations at all about it.

"At this late stage, with only a few days until the transfer window shuts, it would take one hell of an offer for us even to consider selling him.

"We've only four strikers so we don't want to sell.

"I don't envisage anything happening, and on my part, I don't think I will be doing any business, either in or out.

"I'm quite happy with what I have done in terms of strengthening the squad."

One incoming deal which possibly could go ahead is a loan swoop for South Korea international Chu-Young Park.

General manager John Benson has just returned from a scouting mission to run the rule over the FC Seoul striker.

With the distance Park would have to travel to complete the deal, Latics need to know in the next day or so whether there is any likelihood of it going ahead.
