Couple set up traffic rant website
A Wigan couple are so fed up with traffic jams that they have set up a website so that drivers can have a good whinge.
Between them Daniel and Joanne Mason spend around 26 hours a week at the wheel as they commute from home in Hindley to their workplaces in Liverpool and Bury.
Their plight, highlighted on their Traffic Talk website, has now come to the attention of Channel Four documentary makers who are to feature them later this year in an episode of the award-winning Cutting Edge about hell on Britain's roads.
Web designer Daniel, 28, came up with the idea during one of his many long periods of reflection in a tailback.
He said: "We are all stuck in our cars and have no one to turn to let off steam. You have a whinge once you get to work but it's not the same.
"We used to live in Bolton and came to Hindley with our family to cut the distance from here to Liverpool by half.
"Unfortunately, the traffic is so bad round here that it doesn't take any less time. Joanne has an even worse time of it because she has to drop the kids off at a child minder's before going to work.
"The website is not just for sharing woes, it gives details of congestion and roadworks all over the North West which we try to keep updated as best we can. It would be nice if it could go nationwide but
that would be dependent on contributions from people around the country.
"We do hope it helps to reduce some stress levels.
"We have since been contacted by the Cutting Edge people and have been filming for a documentary due to be shown in May. Part of it has been following the pair of us to work, with me crawling from Hindley to Ashton and to Liverpool."
