Do you know car park muggers?
DETECTIVES have issued images of two men they want to question after Wigan youngsters were robbed while they were waiting for a lift.
At around 8.40pm on Wednesday, January 25, a group of five teenagers were standing in the Asda car park, off Ladies Lane, Hindley, because their parents were soon due to pick them up.
Two strangers walked up to them and ordered them to hand over their cash.
When they refused, the robbers punched and kicked one of the victims, a 13-year-old boy, before searching his pockets and stealing his mobile phone.
The pair then ran off. However, just moments later they went into the Nisa convenience store on Atherton Road.
From there they then took two bottles of wine and a soft drink from the shelves, stuffed them down their trousers and walked out without paying.
But their images were captured by the internal CCTV cameras as they left the shop and these were circulated by police this week.
None of the teenage victims was badly injured in the incident outside Asda, but they were left upset and shaken.
Det Con Alison Wallwork, of Wigan CID, said: “I want people to take a good look at these two and tell me where I can find them.
“They sidled up to a group of young people, threatened them, beat one of them up and stole his phone.
“Not content with intimidating a group of innocent teenagers they then stole from a nearby shop – but this further greed could be their downfall.
“Their images were clearly captured on the shop’s CCTV and I am confident that someone can tell us who they are.”
