Duo get chests waxed for Naomi

Two brave fellas have gone where few men dare go for our Naomi's Fight appeal!

Andrew Kendrick, 28, from Shevington, and Stephen Southern, 47, of Beech Hill, had their backs and chests waxed to raise money for Naomi's Fight.

The campaign was started by Tracy Morris, the aunt of two-year-old Naomi Farrington, who has Cystic Fibrosis.

She needs to raise 20,000 for a compression vest from America, which will cut down the number of hospital visits and physiotherapy sessions.

First on the waxing table at Bronze on Blonde, in Springfield Road, was Stephen, who amused onlookers with his squeals of terror.

Then followed Andrew, who admitted it was not that bad.

Andrew, who will be emigrating to Australia in August with his wife and two children, said: "I thought it was going to hurt but it was all right. I was second. Some of the yelps Stephen was coming out with meant I was getting a bit nervous but it wasn't bad. It is stinging a bit now. It's brilliant it is going to a good cause and I hope it helps towards getting the vest she wants from America."

Tracy said: "I had such a fantastic time watching them. Stephen wasn't that worried and he was the first one. Andrew was watching and he was absolutely terrified. They were great until they got round the nipple area!

"I can't thank them enough. To find they have raised in their hundreds – it's amazing. I am really grateful and I am grateful to Nicola at the salon who did it for free and it was her idea."
