Firework ‘posted’ at police station

A MANHUNT has been launched for arsonists after a lit firework was posted through the letterbox of a police station.

The attack on the eve of Bonfire Night on the Parbold outpost was today condemned by officers.

There was no-one inside at the time but the attack damaged the building’s interior.

The arson took place between 10.30pm and 12.15am on Thursday.

The front door and carpets were singed and the Tan House Lane building was filled with smoke.

However ,the device then burned itself out and no further damage was caused.

A police spokesman said: “Fortunately, no one was injured. However, this clearly had the potential to have been much more serious.

“We are appealing for witnesses in the Parbold area who may have seen anything suspicious in the area to come forward and contact us.”
