Gang threaten to 'end' boy
Police are hunting a gang of muggers who robbed a young boy of his bike.
Fourteen-year-old Aidan Walsh had his 500 GT Tempest mountain bike stolen by four youths as he cycled to rugby training at 6pm last Tuesday evening.
Aidan, who is a pupil at Byrchall High School and lives in Haydock, told police that the youths, all aged between 12-19, threatened to "end him" if he didn't hand his bike over.
He was on his way to training for Pilks Recs junior rugby team when he was stopped.
His distressed mum Marie said: "Aidan was cycling to training along the path at the side of the East Lancs Road when these four lads on mountain bikes crossed the road and started asking him about his bike.
"Aidan tried to ignore them and carried on cycling but they caught up with him and started kicking at him and dragging him off his bike.
"Aidan's a handy lad but it was four on one and there was nothing he could do."
Marie added: "It's even more upsetting because the bike was a Christmas present.
"The bike is predominantly white with a black and white seat. Aidan was pretty shaken by it all – especially as they threatened to 'Endhim'.
"The youngest lad was about 12, two of them were about 16 and the other was 18 or 19-years-old.
Aidan says they spoke in Liverpool accents. They obviously knew his bike was quite expensive, because they left one of their bikes behind."
Police are now believed to be viewing CCTV footage in a bid to find the robbers.
