POLICE are hunting three burglars who broke into a Wigan home retail giant, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage in the process.

The incident happened shortly before midnight at the Range on Sunday when the suspects broke into the front of the store cut through the shutters and broke through the door.

From there they went about searching the store to find items they could carry with them and took them away.

They then exited the store and made off on foot.

Detectives are currently investigating the incident but a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said that, as yet, no suspect descriptions are available but they are hoping to obtain CCTV footage which may help them with their inquiries.

According to sources, the damage created by the offenders, who made off in the direction of the canal, was in the region of £4,500.

The GMP spokesman said: “Somewhere between 11.55pm on January 13 and 12.10am on January 14, three offenders broke into the The Range on Chapel Street.

“They cut through the roller shutters and opened the main door.

“After that, they conducted a search of the premises and took some items before exiting the building.

“They then made off towards the canal path and towards Ince.

“As yet, we have no descriptions for any of the offenders but our enquiries are ongoing.

“Forensics have assessed the scene and we’ll be returning to the store to see if we can access any C

“We are appealing for any witnesses who may have saw the three suspects around that time to get in contact with us.”
