Knifeman robbed store

A KNIFE-WIELDING robber burst into a convenience store and threatened staff.

At about 5.45pm on Tuesday 24 August 2010, a man went into the Bottle and Basket shop on Park Road, Wigan.

The robber had a knife with a seven-inch blade and demanded the shop owner fill a bag with money.

The offender then ran out of the store.

He is described as being white, between 25 and 30 years old, of medium build and was wearing a dark bobble hat, black tracksuit and trainers.

Detective Constable Craig Hurst, of Wigan CID, said: “Luckily nobody was injured, but this attack has left the owner shaken.

“It was a light evening so I’m appealing to anyone who may have seen this man hanging round the shop before the robbery or if you saw him afterwards to call us.”

Anyone with any information about the robbery should call Wigan CID on 0161 856 7259 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
