Lee's fundraising drive across danger bay
A brave father-of-three is raising money for the hospital that saved his life.
Lee Hunter, from Aspull, is helping Christie's Cancer Trust after he was treated for testicular cancer.
The 28-year-old is planning to drive across Morecambe Bay with a group of his friends and family in a convoy of Land Rovers.
He said: "Morecambe Bay is notorious for its quicksand and fast-moving tides.
"It's something I've fancied doing for a long while, so what better opportunity than to raise money for a very good cause?
"The amount of people they treat, I feel they deserve all the help they can get."
Lee and his wife Rachel Hunter have three young daughters, Holly, three, and one-year-old twins Evie and Gracie.
He was diagnosed with testicular cancer in April last year, shortly after the birth of his twin girls.
After three months of chemotherapy at The Christie, Lee was given the all-clear in September.
He said: "Not a day passes where I'm not terrified of what may have happened or still could. Every little ache and pain I get scares me. The only peace of mind I get is that, if I have any worries or concerns, I can pick up the phone and contact someone at Christie's.
"All I look forward to now is the regular check-ups and I hope and pray they send me away just for me to return for my next check-up."
Lee, who works as a network manager for Virgin Media, will be joined by wife Rachel and six friends when he crosses Britain's most dangerous byway.
The group are hoping to cross on August 17 at 3pm or August 27 at 10.30am, depending on the weather.
They aim to raise 1,500 for cancer research at the specialist hospital in Manchester.
