Man arrested over knife attack
A MAN has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Wigan - the 25-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.
Police were called by North West Ambulance Service who reported a man had been dropped off by a car at Wigan Infirmary suffering from severe stab wounds at about 4.25pm on Saturday.
Officers went to the hospital and found a 24-year-old man suffering from several serious stab wounds to the face, neck and abdomen.
His condition was serious but he is now recovering and his injuries were not life-threatening.
Police still need the public’s help in piecing together how the attack occurred.
It is believed the incident that caused him to be injured happened in the Bamfurlong area, however, no location has yet been identified.
Detective Inspector Martin Reddington, of Wigan INPT West, said: “At the moment we only have limited information about how this man came to be stabbed.
“This is why we urgently need the public’s help. We believe this possibly happened in the Bamfurlong area of Wigan, however we cannot confirm this at this time. So, do you live in that area and did you hear or see anything out of the ordinary on Saturday afternoon?
“If so please call us. This man has been stabbed and slashed with a knife several times and is in a poorly condition so, if you know anything, please get in touch.”
