Man attacked at antiques fair
A man was flung to the ground and had his watch worth thousands of pounds stolen when he was ambushed leaving a Wigan antiques fair.
The 59-year-old was set upon by two black-clad and masked men as he walked back to to his car outside the Kilhey Court Hotel in Worthington, Standish.
Dragging him to his knees, the pair ordered their shocked victim to hand over the keys to his BMW and tore his 18-carat Cartier Tank LC automatic watch from his wrist.
They then threw him to the ground, jumped into the car and drove off at speed, leaving the man physically unharmed but shaken up.
The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later, still with its engine running, in Beech Walk, Standish.
Detectives today appealed for information about the hijacking, which took place at 5.30pm on Sunday, January 17.
The man had been attending an antiques fair at the Chorley Road hotel and police speculated today that his attackers may have earlier targeted their victim in advance.
