A WIGAN man has denied murdering 24-year-old Ian Sudworth.

Ian, from Beech Hill, was found unconscious in the Scot Lane area of the town in the early hours of Saturday, November 19, after he went out to a garage to buy cigarettes.

He was taken to Wigan Royal Infirmary, where he died a short time later.

A post-mortem examination found he had suffered three stab wounds.

Jonathan Marron, 21, of Stranraer Road, Marsh Green, pleaded not guilty to murder. Marron, who appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via video link from Walton Prison, was further remanded in custody to await his trial, expected to last about a week, beginning on April 30.
