Meet Wigan's psychic pieman

Meat Britain's only Psychic Pieman - Wigan pastry king Kevin Warrilow! Kevin has traded in 'meat and prater' for tarrot and Angels in a career change to end them all.

The former Village Bakery chain boss swopped life in his three bake shops after a surprise discovery....he found the recipe of how to channel messages from the other side . . . .

So he's converted the former Pemberton shop into his Love and Light spirituality centre.

The 31-year-old dad admits it has raised the occasional eyebrow in Ormskirk Road.

But says he's has been guided by the forces beyond to make his new 'dough' out of a business which sells everything from crystals to figurines, Tarrot and Angel cards, insence, art and esoteric photography.

He also offers 'Psychic Suppers with the Psychic Baker' at selected venues with a team of mediums and card readers.

Kevin came to the borough from the Black Country a decade ago after meeting his Wigan-born partner Joanne while on holiday in Benidorm.

A baker by trade, he worked at pie legends Pooles and then Galloways before buying the Village Bakery, with premises in Ashton and Abram as well as Pemberton. At its height he had more than 20 staff.

But things changed dramatically after, he says, the pie shops hit financial problems and he began to be guided by the spirit of a beautiful Afro-Carribean woman called Lisa, whose face would materialise in curtains, doors or tables to tell him of the new direction his life must take.

He then began to give private readings to friends and family who were profoundly impressed with how accurate they proved to be.

Kevin, 30, said: "People have heard of the psychic barber in Scotland

and some visitors started calling me the pyschic pieman, others the psychic baker, and it just stuck, I suppose.

"Friends were amazed at how I had changed almost overnight to a deeply spiritual person and how I had this amazing gift, which I can't explain and have given up trying to.

"I had no more interest in this subject from your average fella off the street. I remember going to a developmennt circle and cracking up with laughter and thinking I was surrounded by looneys, because I was as sceptical as the next man.

"But I was then guided by spirit to transform one of my former bakery shops into a spiritual shop.

"Some have said I'm very brave will say that Pemberton isn't London or New York and it will never be great from a business poiint of view but I firmly believe what is meant to be will be and whoever is up there will look after me."

Love and Light shop has its own spirit - a girl called Annabel.

And many of the 'students' who attend the spiritual development classes there have, says Kevin, "picked up" on her presence, also being able to name her.

He says she even quite likes to join in with the classes.
