Plea to get back adopted ferret
A heartbroken animal lover is pleading with a Wigan rescue centre to return her unusual pet.
Fez the golden ferret was found wandering in Liverpool after escaping from his cage and ended up being taken into care by the Wigan-based JCV Ferret Rescue more than 20 miles away.
Unaware that her pet had been found, distraught lab assistant Danielle Firth plastered her neighbourhood with posters pleading for the return of her furry pal.
She finally discovered Fez's whereabouts 12 days later, but when she phoned JCV she found the organisation had re-homed him "only hours" earlier.
And she has been left dismayed by their refusal to give her details of the new adopted owners.
She said: "The lady who answered said he had been rehomed a few hours earlier in the day and nothing could be done.
"I offered to pay them the reward money and to pay expenses but they didn't want to know.
"They said he had a new home and that was that. I thought they had to keep them for seven days before they rehome them.
"JCV wouldn't give me any details for the people who they have rehomed Fez with and wouldn't agree to contact them on my behalf.
"I was very upset on the phone but not swearing or unreasonable. I really miss him.
"But they were quite harsh with me, almost saying it was my fault for him getting out.
"There are plenty of abandoned ferrets so I just don't understand why they are refusing to help me."
A spokesman for JCV Ferrett Rescue said they were considering a response to her claims, but declined to comment further.
