Police hunting fugitives

A fugitive drug dealer is being hunted in Wigan.

Peter Prendergast is known to have links with Orrell and officers from the neighbouring Lancashire force today appealed for locals to be vigilant.

The 27-year-old, who also has Skelmersdale and Liverpool connections, is wanted on prison recall.

Prendergast was originally jailed for possession of drugs with intent to supply after he was convicted at Liverpool Crown Court in October 2006 and sentenced to three years' imprisonment.

He was later released on licence but then broke the terms of that licence and was recalled to prison.

Also wanted is Gerrard Lundie, 20, who was jailed in March 2009 for drugs supply offences after being convicted at Liverpool Crown Court.

He was sentenced to 27 months in prison but again, since being released on licence, he has broken its terms and must now serve out more of his term behind bars.

He is believed to be in the Liverpool area although he had previously lived in Skelmersdale.

Insp John Clucas said: "As always, I'd like to reassure the public that as a force we have a high success rate of returning people to prison and use all methods to catch these people.

"I would also ask the public to be vigilant and report any sightings to the police. We want these people bringing to justice and any details the public may have could be crucial.

"Information can be passed to the police, or by e-mail using the e-mail address on the wanted on warrant website, or it can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers 0800 555 111."

People wanted on prison recall have been convicted of criminal offences and sentenced to a period of imprisonment. They have been released from prison before the end of their sentence for good behaviour but have failed to comply with conditions as part of their release.

They are recalled to prison to serve more of their sentence.

Once they have been recalled, which is initiated by the Probation Service or the Electronic Monitoring Contractor (which in Lancashire is G4S), it is up to the police to trace that person.
