Police probe shotgun reports

POLICE are on high alert after it was reported that a man armed with a shotgun was stalking a Wigan estate.

Armed police flooded Scholes at around 10pm on Wednesday night while a helicopter scanned local streets from the skies after reports that a man had turned up at a house on the road wielding the deadly weapon.

A Wigan police spokesman said that there was an on-going investigation into an incident and that no arrests have so far been made.
