Power cut helpline not working
RESIDENTS living in Ashton hit by a major power cut arebeing warned that the emergency helpline telephone number is not working.
A cable fault sparked a power outage at around 8.30pm on Thursday, which lasted until 5.30am, affecting around 2,300 homes in Ashton and Haydock.
Engineers from Electricity North West are now working to remedy the problem, but warn that its usual helpline number is not in use.
Instead people are asked to call 0800 048 1820 (option 2,2) or go to
www.enwl.co.uk/powercuts.
Andy Smith, response manager for Electricity North West, said: “I apologise to customers who have recently been affected by interruptions to their power supply.
“Our engineers arrived on site and repaired the original underground cable fault on January 26, but unfortunately there has been a second fault on the network on Thursday night.
“Engineers worked throughout the night to restore power supply and are working through the day to fix the underground cable fault.
“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. If you do experience any issues with your electricity call us on 0800 048 1820
(option 2,2) or go to www.enwl.co.uk/powercuts.”
