Pupils rise to garden challenge

It may be summer but pupils from Lowton High School have no intention of putting their feet up just yet as they took part in their annual challenge week.

Years seven, eight, nine and 10 have had a fun filled five days producing fashion shows, making their own newspaper and even staging their very own version of The Apprentice.

Lowton teacher Liz Howarth said: "We are delivering enterprise to the children. There are five challenges during the week for each year and 20 challenges in total."

This annual event held towards the end of the academic year at the school has proven very popular with everyone involved. It started with previous members of staff, who passed the tradition on to the current batch of tutors.

"After previous members of staff introduced it, I would say two out of three of the year 11's will choose the challenge week as the most memorable thing they did at the school," Ms Howarth added.
