The aftermath

THIS is the scene after a car plunged into railings on a busy Wigan road.

A male driver lost control of his blue Ford Focus and it careered into 20ft of metal barriers, in Spencer West Road, Gidlow.

Police and ambulance crews were called at 6.20pm on Monday.

Paramedics attended to the man, whose age is unknown, but he sustained no injuries and did not need hospital treatment.

He was breathalysed at the scene, but had a negative reading and no arrests were made.

The impact of the collision caused substantial damage to the front bumper and the passenger side of the car.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed only one vehicle was involved.

This idiot only crashed because he tried to overtake me, a learner driver. I was going at the speed limit so he was obviously trying to speed, and he tried to overtake me over the island in the middle of the road. Deserves it if you ask me.
