Rapist jailed

A chef raped a young woman while on bail for sexually assaulting her.

Scott Robinson got into his victim's home while she slept, despite his bail terms banning him from going near her, a court heard.

Armed with sex items bought from an Ann Summers shop, he told her he was going to finish what he had started.

He then repeatedly punched and abused her and ordered her to wear an outfit he had bought, said Karen Brooks, prosecuting.

Robinson, 36, then raped her. Afterwards, to placate him, she told him she would agree to drop the earlier charge involving him sexually assaulting her two days earlier.

During the first ordeal he had forced her to wear a cut-down pair of jeans and repeatedly slapped her across the face, Liverpool Crown Court heard.

After that attack, which also happened in her Wigan home, she fled to a neighbour's house and the police were called.

Robinson, of Wigan Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield, pleaded guilty to rape and sexual assault.

Jailing Robinson for seven-and-a-half years, Judge Mark Brown ordered him to sign on the Sex Offenders' Register for life.

William Swalwell, defending, said that Robinson, who has a previous conviction for assault causing actual bodily harm, had been taking medicine for headaches and dizziness and was still awaiting a MRI scan to diagnose the cause.

These prescribed drugs adversely affect his moods and he had been drinking heavily on the day of the rape. He regretted his behaviour and had expressed his apologies, said Mr Swalwell.
