Samantha lands West End role
Actress Samantha Seager has landed a plum role in a West End show.
Samantha has enjoyed a well-earned rest at her London home since leaving her role as Jodie Morton in Coronation Street, but is ready to launch her career again.
The 35-year-old enjoyed an acting stint in ITV's Boy Meets Girl earlier this year and has now landed a role in the West End musical Billy Elliot, as Billy's dead mother.
Samantha, from Atherton, said: "I have two young children and I spent so much time away, so I made a conscious decision to be closer to home in London.
"Billy Elliot is a fantastic musical. I have seen it a couple of times and thought if I was going to be in a musical, that would be it.
"I was lucky they were re-casting and I got the part.
"It's a fantastic cast. The children are exceptionally talented. And I am working with lots of northerners."
Samantha, who has two children, Johnny, seven, and five-year-old Willow, is contracted with Billy Elliot for one year and enjoyed her opening night on Monday.
She added: "Being in this musical and performing every day is brilliant. It's a really exciting time. Things couldn't be any better."
The former Hesketh Fletcher High School pupil is also to star in a future episode of the BBC One drama Waterloo Road, to be shown over Christmas. She will play Joely Vale, whose children have been abducted by their father.
She added: "It's a fantastic dramatic role and a really gritty part to get my teeth into."
Samantha left Atherton when she was 16 to star in her first West End musical, Into The Woods, an ensemble of fairytales.
She then went to drama school and took on a variety of acting roles, including parts in Casualty, Doctors and Where The Heart Is.
