Sex shop's olympic games bid

A Wigan sex shop is offering free Union Jack condoms to Britain's Olympic athletes.

Nice 'n' Naughty, which operates from beneath the railway arches in Queen Street, insist their offer is a genuine one.

They have now written to the head of UK Athletics with the details.

They hope the publicity will also help to spread the safe sex message.

More than 300 athletes and 200 officials will be sent their own personal supply of contraceptives.

Wigan Nice 'n' Naughty director Simon Prescott says he wants to make sure Great Britain's athletes come home without any unwanted trophies from the trip.

He said: "The Games are designed to bring nations together.

"We want those cultural exchanges to be as enjoyable as possible, so what better way to support the team than with a gift everyone, both winners and losers, can use.

"We also want Team GB to demonstrate the importance of safe sex to a worldwide audience."

Ironically, the Nice 'n' Naughty condoms are manufactured in China.

A letter has been sent to Ed Warner, head of UK Athletics, offering the Nice 'n' Naughty condoms.

And the company, which is the only licensed sex shop within the country to earn an Investor In People Award while winning the ETO Adult

Industry Retailer of the Year Award for three consecutive years, is now awaiting a delivery address.

Around 10,500 elite athletes from around the world compete for the 302 gold medals on offer across 28 sports.

The opening ceremony is on August 8, with the curtain coming down on the Games 16 days later.
