The Lever Prize is open now

BUSINESS bosses are asking for arts organisations in Wigan to take part in a prestigious awards showcase.

The 2010 Lever Prize, judged by the North West Business Leadership Team (NWBLT), is officially open for entries.

The Lever Prize is backed by 28 of the region’s largest companies, in partnership with support from Arts and Business Northwest.

The competition showcases world-class arts organisations in the region and will give the winner 10,000 cash and support from some of the North West’s most influential business leaders.

Cash

The award is not just for art groups – but buildings, events, festivals, libraries and archives, who are all eligible not only for the cash prize but for a year-long collaboration with the region’s top business leaders.

Previous winners include Manchester International Festival in 2007, Tate Liverpool in 2008 and the National Football Museum in 2009.

Brenda Parkerson, regional director for Arts and Business Northwest, said: “The 2010 Lever Prize is a chance to champion, recognise and reward the region’s world-class arts organisations.”

The closing date for entries is June 30.
