Warning after shopper's bag is stolen

A woman from Wigan is warning shoppers to be careful after thieves stole her handbag.

Brenda Gallimore, 63, of Winstanley, was shopping in Sainsbury's, Worthington Way, Marus Bridge, on Wednesday morning.

As she turned her back, her bag, containing her purse, keys, mobile phone and driving licence, was stolen.

Her purse contained just over 110 and over 300 was stolen from her bank account.

She said: "I was looking at the shelves and I had my hand on my trolley and the bag was stolen from the hook.

"I want to warn people not to put their bags on the trolley handles. I don't want anybody else to go through it."

The bag also contained her late husband's wallet and photographs of sentimental value.
