Wigan mum warns of payday loans poison
A WIGAN woman warned today of the ”poison” of legal payday loan companies after becoming trapped in a terrifying spiral of debt.
Single mother Amy Mather borrowed just £150 to help sweeten Christmas for her toddler daughter.
But she ended up being “chased into a corner” and harassed day and night by bailiffs after her personal debt had risen, less than a year later, to more than £10,000!
This was because of the “extortionate” rates of interest hidden in the smallest permissible print behind the detail of the deal.
Amy, from Springfield, is now helping to put her life back together after help from Wigan Citizens’ Advice Bureau which showed her how to negotiate a Debt Relief Order.
