Young mum drunk in street
A young Wigan mother has been ordered to attend an alcohol awareness course, after being found drunk while caring for a seven-year-old child.
Katie Victoria Thompson, 22, admitted being drunk in a public place at Bolton Road, in Ashton-in-Makerfield, in November.
She was given a community punishment order by Wigan magistrates yesterday and told to visit a brief alcohol programme.
Thompson, from Medlock Way, Platt Bridge, was also fined 300 for the offence, which will be taken from her benefits.
She must now report to an alcohol programme supervisor for the next six months or face further punishment.
