TWO football fans will appear before a Wigan court after being arrested at the Latics versus Leeds United match on Saturday.

The Championship tie was halted temporarily in the first half – with the scores level at 0-0 – when a flare was thrown on to the pitch from the away end at the DW Stadium.

Paul King, 25, has been charged with the offence of throwing a missile on to a football playing area under the Football Offences Act.

He will appear before Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court on April 15.

Joshua Megson, 18, has been charged for possession of a firework or flare at a sporting event.

He will appear on April 22.
